Winter Bucket List 2018

Wow, I seriously cannot believe how fast this year is going by! It’s already almost winter!!! I feel like I say that in every post, but it’s like time just goes by so much faster lately.

Winter bucket list 2018 blog post

I really enjoyed writing my Fall Bucket List, so I thought I’d make one for this upcoming season as well! Honestly though, I’m not the biggest fan of winter; it’s cold, it’s dark, and it’s icy. For the most part, it doesn’t help my mental health because all I want to do is stay in bed and keep myself warm and cozy and safe, which in turn makes me angry with myself and pushes me to overthink. All in all, not a fan. BUT, like with most things nowadays, I’m trying to be positive about it because it is inevitable and it’s not all bad after all.

Going to see Christmas lights

Okay, I feel like this is something everyone likes to do around the holidays, but I’m so excited to do it this year! I want to show Basil and see his reactions to all the pretty lights, plus I think it’s always fun to go for a drive with my little family! There are a few Christmas lightings in our area too and I’d definitely LOVE to go walk along the Lake Coeur d’Alene boardwalk again this year as well.

Skiing

So last year was the first time I’d gone skiing in years, but I was pregnant so I was only able to go a few times and I couldn’t try as hard as I would have liked. This year, I really want to focus on getting better and more comfortable on my skis! We’ve already gone a couple of times and had such a blast I forgot to take any pictures, so I’m excited to see what the rest of the season brings!!

Family time

I mean, I always like spending time with my perfect little family, but there’s something about it during the holidays that makes it feel extra special! Michael only has one day a week off and getting as many snugs and as much fun packed into that day is the ultimate goal. It’ll also be nice for him to get a little break from school and a few extra days off work for Christmas because he’s been working his butt off for us and I’m so thankful for him, but wowie could he use some relaxation.

I’ll never stop putting this picture on posts because it’s my favorite so far hehehe

Going home for Christmas

I’m sooooo excited for this one! I haven’t been able to go home for Christmas for the last few years and we decided kind of last minute that we are going to able to. Over the last few years I’ve noticed I’m very sentimental and family oriented, so being home for Christmas this year will be so awesome! I’m also excited for Michael to see what my childhood Christmas was like! Also, it’s Basil’s first, so that should be fun to see how he reacts to the tree, and gifts!!

Playing in the snow with Basil

This one is more of a maybe for me. I think it would be fun for him to get in the snow rather than just watching it like last time I took him outside when it was snowing, but at the same time he may be a bit too young for it. I also don’t have a snowsuit that’s waterproof for him, but I don’t think he’d last long enough in the snow for that to really matter anyway… we’ll see about this one!

New Year’s Eve

So last year, I was quite pregnant, which meant I was also in bed (uncomfortably) and probably asleep by 10pm. I’m not saying that’s bad, I’m just saying I think Michael and I deserve a night out to celebrate making it through the year! We don’t get out much anymore (for obvious reasons), and I think New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse to have a night to ourselves. We’ll see how this goes, or if it even does go, but even if we can’t get out on New Year’s Eve, I’d still like a night out with just us.

Christmas parties

I’m not one to say no to a party – and Christmas parties are no exception! Michael has a work Christmas party coming up that should be a lot of fun, and I’m sure we’ll get together with some friends once or twice too. If not, I know going home for Christmas will be it’s own little ‘party’ in itself!

Basil’s first Christmas

So I’m almost certain he won’t be doing any present opening because what 7 month old understands the concept of that, but I’m just really excited to have his first Christmas! We aren’t able to afford a lot of gifts or anything extravagant for him this year which kind of bums me out, but I know he’ll like the toys and books we are able to get him! He’s pretty easy to please and entertain, so I’m not worried about that.

I’m so excited for this season even though winter is not my favorite. I want to have a lot of fun, spend a lot of time with family, and soak up a lot of Basil’s first experiences! I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it!!

What’s on your winter bucket list?

Thanks for reading!!
