Fall Bucket List 2018

Fall is (almost!!!) here, and I couldn’t be more excited! It seems like everyone’s favorite season is fall, but with good reason. Summer is way too hot and to be completely honest, I hate the sun. It hurts my eyes, it’s too hot, and nobody likes a sunburn. Winter is too cold, and again with the sun, it’s too bright and in your face reflecting off of the snow. Ironically, however, I do like me a good ski. Spring is growing on me, but nothing beats fall. So, in honor of fall, I thought I’d compile a short list of things I hope to be able to do this wonderful season!

Fall Bucket List the Chatty Mama

Mountain drive

Where we live is surrounded by mountains with TONS of trees. The only time I’ve seen more trees was on the way to Portland, OR. One of my favorite things about fall (probably like everybody else) is the leaves changing. I love the colors and the fresh feeling of shedding away everything from the summer and getting ready for crisp, dreary fall weather. So, a mountain drive while the leaves are changing is at the top of my fall bucket list!

Walking around downtown

Downtown CDA is always beautiful, but when the leaves are changing it’s insane just how pretty it is! The reds and oranges and yellows and the adorable little shops on the lake – ohhhhh boy, I can’t wait! We didn’t get a chance to walk through it last fall, so I’m really hoping this year we can. I’m so excited for Basil to see how beautiful it is where he lives and how lucky he is for that (shoutout to southern Idaho for being so ugly).

Hiking

I like hiking anyway, but it’s been a loooong time since I’ve gone on a hike when all the leaves are changing and I’d love to have a chance do that this year. Last time we went on a hike Basil fell asleep in the front pack, but I think he had a good time anyway. There were lots of things to look at and it was the first hike he’s been on that he was old enough to pay attention to what’s going on, so I think it would be fun to have him see all the different colors that come with a fall hike.

Pumpkin carving

Now, I’m not gonna lie and say I love carving pumpkins because I don’t. In fact, it grosses me out a lot more than it probably should what with the slimy, squishy guts and all, but what’s Halloween without a couple of cute carved pumpkins sitting on the front porch?

Haunted houses

They’re kind of a staple for this time of year. I think bringing Basil along in a stroller would be very difficult, and having him in the front pack is also impractical. I’m also fairly certain a 5-month-old baby is not the ideal haunted house goer. Although this one’s not a “must” for me this year, I’d still like to *try* to sneak off to one with Michael.

Colorful changing fall leaves autumn

So my “fall bucket list” is a little generic, but I’m still pumped for fall and all that comes with it. Bring on the beautiful colors, the dreary, drizzly days, the smell of freshly fallen leaves, and the warm, snuggly clothes!

What’s on your fall bucket list?

  1. Our leaves don’t change here (Texas) and honestly, we really don’t have a fall it goes from 90 to 40 with the first cold front usually sometime in late October and everything is usually already dead from drought. So all of these things would be nice where is CDA?

    1. Fun, it’ll be nice to experience something new! No tips unfortunately. I just draw an outline with sharpie and make sure my knife is sharp… mine never turn out that great either so it’s mostly just for the memories! 😊

  2. I love your bucket list! As much as I love Summer I am slowly embracing Fall and this list helped remind me of reasons why the season is so special! 🍂
